Even diligent and caring pet owners can sometimes forget about the narrow window of opportunity for administering the oral medication. This new advancement spares you and your pet the risky aftermath of those lapses.

Now, pet owners have an even greater concern about mosquito bites to their pets. While rare, West Nile virus has been reported in both dogs and cats. There are very few reported cases of pet fatalities in dogs and cats, but the risk still exists. Instead, most of the time, the animal may test positive for the virus, without having symptoms.

If your pet has West Nile virus, it may have the following symptoms: fever, depression or lethargy, muscle weakness or spasms, impaired coordination, seizures or paralysis. If your pet has these symptoms, consult your veterinarian immediately.

Bird and horse owners should be much more concerned. West Nile virus is primarily fatal to many bird species. Crows, for example, are very susceptible to fatal cases. Sparrows, on the other hand, easily contract it, but have no symptoms. And, migratory birds like sparrows help to continue the spread of the virus because they are highly mobile.

Of those birds that are kept as pets, parrots, cockateels and parakeets are most at risk.

Relaxing on the West River

A narrow, ambling creek in the backyard, lots of mature trees bursting in an abundance of autumn color, a beautiful house full of family history, and even Elvis – this is the West River home of Gary Monetti.

Let’s first address Elvis. He’s a fish; albeit a striking koi, but a fish nonetheless. He lives in a fishpond in Mr. Monetti’s sunroom with several koi friends that Mr

HARLEQUINS coach Brian McDermott praised his young, home-grown team despite the secondhalf clobbering they received from Giants.

Huddersfield were only 8-4 up at the break, but they ran in six tries in the second half against a Quins side featuring only one overseas player, Luke Dorn, for the third consecutive week.

And McDermott – who was once Huddersfield’s assistant coach – said: “I’m immensely proud of our young players.

In fact, say many

In fact, say many professional tour operators, you’d do best to start making your plans and reservations as much as six months in advance, especially if you want to include popular activities like quad bikes, five a side football or hovercraft racing. If you’re feeling especially organized, you might even arrange a full weekend of spy games to entertain the man of the hour in his final hours.

A stag weekend in Manchester is just one example of the unique stag parties that a professional tour operator can help you arrange. If you’re looking for more unique ideas for stag parties in Manchester or any other city, contact http://www.Chillisauce.co.uk, a tour operator that specialises in unique and unusual stag nights, bachelor parties and stag weekends.

Seeing puppies with their mum

0 Comments | Nottingham Evening Post, Jul 27, 2010

AS a long time member of the dog welfare charity Dogs Trust, I support their efforts to end puppy farming in this country.

Anyone with an interest in the subject knows that puppy farms are only interested in making a fast buck and that the well-being of the breeding bitches and their unfortunate puppies is of little concern.

One of the ways of bringing an end to these Dickensian “businesses” is to deny them outlets for the puppies they want to sell and here newspapers like the Nottingham Post have a major part to play.

Adverts for puppies should not be accepted unless the vendor states that they can be seen with their mother.

Too frequently I have seen adverts for puppies, often at way below market price and with revealing phrases such as “can deliver”.

These animals almost certainly originate from some filthy shed from parents unscreened for the genetic defects pedigree dogs are prone to.

Andrew’s VIP guest from Libya as Megrahi storm grew; EXCLUSIVE

0 Comments | Daily Mail (London, England), The, July 26, 2010

Byline: stephen Wright Crime Editor

A SENIOR Libyan minister was entertained by Prince Andrew at St James’s Palace as David Cameron prepared to hold talks with Barack Obama over the Lockerbie bomber, it emerged yesterday.

The official, a key figure in Colonel Gaddafi’s cabinet, led a delegation of Libyans who also held talks with a Tory defence minister and with senior Scotland Yard counter terrorism officers.

Abdel-Fatah Yunis al-Obeidi also met a Foreign Office minister during his trip to the UK.

Last night the Government faced demands to explain why the Libyans had been given the ‘red carpet treatment’ as Mr Cameron was trying to appease the U.S. president over the controversial release last August of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi.

Cancer-stricken Megrahi was supposedly three months from death when he was freed by Scottish ministers on ‘compassionate’ grounds. But he has since made an extraordinary recovery and his life is no longer in imminent danger.

Relatives of the 270 who died in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 are likely to be puzzled by the decision to afford VIP status to Mr Obeidi, the Libyan secretary general for public security.

He insists Libya had ‘no connection’ with the Lockerbie bombing and claims Megrahi was the ‘victim of a huge international conspiracy’. The Libyan minister’s views are at odds with those of Mr Cameron, who told President Obama last Tuesday that he believed Megrahi should have died behind bars in Britain. After the two held their first talks at the White House, President Obama demanded full cooperation from Britain with a Senate inquiry into the affair.

Yet 24 hours before their meeting in Washington, Mr Obeidi was attending a reception hosted by Prince Andrew at St James’s Palace. He was one of 300 people invited to the event, which marked the Farnborough Airshow

Hair that is not well

July 29th, 2010

Hair that is
not well saturated can be very strong and tough. As the razor
passes over, the hair is pulled up from the follicle. After it is
cut it retracts below the skin surface with the resultant risk of
it growing into surrounding tissue.

Shave in the direction of the hair growth. Cutting with the grain
not against it will prevent hair being cut too short.

Prevent ingrown hairs by avoiding repeat strokes over the same
area. Repeated strokes can also result in hair being cut too
short.

Shave with the skin in a relaxed condition. Do not stretch the
skin too taught. A little pressure may be necessary but excessive
stretching can again result in hair being cut too short.

Use Tea Tree Oil twice a day in conjunction with a loofah bath or
shower. Tea Tree Oil has a bacterial ability to kill infection
and prevent pustules forming. (Avoid the eye area)

When Waxing

To pull out the hair cleanly without breaking it follow these
recommendations: Apply a thin layer of wax in the direction of
the hair growth, preferably holding the spatula or tongue
depresser at a 45 degree angle as you spread the wax.

When applying the cotton strip over the wax, rub in the same
direction as the hair growth leaving about 1/3 of the strip free
to allow for a firm grip for a fast back pulling action.

Pull the skin taut before pulling the cotton strip away.

Pull back with a rapid movement close to the skin.

Along with deciding on the right doctors

July 29th, 2010

Along with deciding on the right doctors and particular surgical procedure you want done; it would be wise to contemplate if the risks are worth the potential results.

When you are deciding on what doctor will perform your surgery be sure you have reviewed all of his or her credentials. It?s also advisable to talk with the doctors past patients and staff. If you have any friends or family that have had cosmetic surgery; talk with them about their doctor and how their procedure went. When deciding on a surgeon it is very important you verify that they are certified and properly accredited. There are many horror stories related to cosmetic surgery based on people not doing their due diligence on this important detail.

After choosing your doctor you may want to factor in the distance and travel time from your home to the hospital.
